Yawm ʿArafah, known in full as The Day of Standing at ʿArafāt, is the most significant day of the Hajj pilgrimage. Pilgrims gather on the plains of ʿArafāt near Mecca, engaging in deep supplication and repentance. For non-pilgrims, fasting on this day is highly recommended and is believed to expiate sins of the previous and coming year.
